HOME GROWN TOUR 2008: report on the Tourstopp #2 in Aurich.
The second contest of the only German Mountain Bike Street Series started successfully on Saturday.
Solingen, 5th February 2008 Last weekend the Home Grown Tour 2008 started its second round: Pro´s and Amateurs Mountain Bikes from all over Germany met in the Play Ground Skater Hall in Aurich, to rock the Ramp for one long day. In total there were 17 Amateurs and 21 Pro´s who started and showed what they could do in 2 Runs, each 1 minute long.
Like the first Tourstopp in Wuppertal, the standard was very high. Not only the Pro´s, but also the Amateurs showed Runs with top class technical tricks.
Patrick Hallor who for 2 weeks got second place, also showed a great BMX style Run. He was the only one that made a Tail Whip to Tail Whip, followed by perfect Whip Airs and Wall Taps, which impressed both the spectators as well as the jury. As deserved, Patrick landed in first place and won a brand new Giant Bike.
Felix Rosendahl, with a great trick selection, got 2nd place. He made a Flip on the Box, followed by a Bunnyhop Barspin directly in the landing. Followed by a third Bunnyhop in the Landing, a third Step Up, Tail Whipin Set Up, good Footjams on the Wall Quarter etc.
The 3rd place went to Jonas Bultmann, who delivered classical Runs with Canadian Footjams in Coping, Cross Foot Tailtaps, Walltaps, Barspin Bank to Bank and No Foot Can Can Bank to Bank´s.
Also on this weekend, the undisputed winner of the Pro Class was Marius Hoppensack (DPJ-Dirtbikes, Adidas, Sponsoree), who once again impressed with his big and consistent Trick program. Marius delivered lines ie Tailwhip Transfers, Backflips in the Bank, No Foot Can Caninvert Airs, Tuck no hand Airs and high Walltaps, in which he also won the second round of the Home Grown Tour.
Second place went to Hendrik Tafel (Last Bikes, King Kong, Ogio, Giro), who with the highest Walltaps, Whipairs over the Coping as well as his famous Lip Tricks, impressed the spectators.
Third place was Ludwig Jäger (Moshcore, Revell), closely followed in fourth place by Philip Meyer (Sponsoree, King Kong, NJP-Dirt Bikes). After a not so good first round, Ludwig went full out in the second round and delivered an impressive 360 Tailwhip, a high Step Up, followed by a 360 Barspin to X Up and a Footjam Tailwhip.
Ludwig Ibe landed fifth place. Ibe started 2 weeks before in the Amateur Class, won the Wuppertal contest and catapulted into the Pro Class.
Unfortunately, also in the 2nd Home Grown Tour there were injuries. The Hollander Kevin Katinas crashed in the first round and couldn’t take part in the second round.
The Home Grown Tour is the first and only German Mountain Bike Street Series for Amateurs and Pro Mountain Bikers, which was brought to life in 2006 by the Mountain Biker Rider Magazine. This program includes 3 Stops throughout Germany’s Streets- Halls- Countryside. The last contest of the Series takes place on the 16th February in the Tretlager Hall in Munich/Emmering.
For a warm up there will be a Street Jam from 10:00 am.
