Humour is when you laugh anyway!

sponsoree Young Talent Slope Style landed under water. Never the less we saw amazing Dirt Jump Action.

Improvisation is half the battle. Once again our Event at the sponsoree Young Talent Slope Style in the new Bike Park in Wittenburg was an victim of rain, but we didn’t let that get us or the spectators down. After the Bike Park slowly disappeared into a sea of water, we moved the dirt jump to the Go-cart Track and the Ski Hall.

We couldn’t believe it. Not again!
After the washed-out sponsoree Ticket2Style Contest in Saalbach, the heavens opened up again in Wittenburg and sent down more water than the ground could cope with. All competitors helped as best they could to not let the rain get the best of them. Armed with bulldozers, spade and gumboots, all did their best but it was an up-hill battle that couldn’t be won. Every time a track was dried and cleared, down came the rain again. It was impossible to have the down slope contest. All the connecting lines of the single obstacles were so soft that one stuck ankle deep in mud. After we found out that the dirt bike landing zone (even though we had them covered) was also too soft, we decided to make new plans.

So we improvised. Some of the guys first messed around with a snowboard (in Summer!) and some did SMX Sessions, while the others were fighting for the best time on the Carrera Track.
Lucky our Event partner Marcus Haase of Hollywood Ramps, brought along his mobile wooden ramp. In a short time we closed the Go-cart track and made a line for three jumps. Then our Riders showed us what awesome tricks they were capable of doing.

But that was not enough for us. No one wanted it to end with only that. So Niels-Peter Jensen had a great idea, why not build a high ramp in the middle of the Shi Hall and show all the guests spectacular Dirt Jump Action!
After NPJ convinced the Snow Fun Park management, there was nothing to stand in the way of our Rookies. In a short time the Restaurant steps were converted to an In-Run function, so that the Riders could get enough swing for the 2m high ramp. The ramp was so steep that the Riders were catapulted 5m high. After a successful landing, the underrun was through the entrance door. And on this ramp our Rookies rocked the night away, including us.

Towards the end at the 4LYN Live Concert, the 10 best Rookies, chosen by the judges Joscha Forstreuter, Marius Hoppensack and Pierre Grawitter, performed a second Jam Session before the large audience. Included was Philipp Meyer, Felix Rosendahl, Peter Henke (14 years old!), Martin Schüller, Marcus Zingler, Kevin Winkens, Max Schäfer and Conrad Höfer, as well as the Austrian Alfred Scholtze and the Swiss Ramon Hunziker. Under the cheering applause from the crowd, they packed out all the tricks they had. Also Niels-Peter Jensen and Marius Hoppensack got their bikes and catapulted high into the air. Marius Hoppensack and Rookie Alfred Scholtze amazed the public with their 360° Tail Whips!

Also towards the end at the Rock Show on 2 wheels, 4LYN presented for the first time their new video clip `Hello (For you I´m Dying)´ from the album `Hello´, that they filmed in California together with Niels-Peter Jensen, Joscha Forstreuter, Marius Hoppensack and Pierre-Edouard Ferry. After that the Band and the Bikers rocked till early morning. Èven though it was a bit different to what was planned, it was still a great weekend and a smashing event´, which was the feedback on Sunday from the competitors who were dead tired and heading on their way back home.

At this point we would like to reiterate that this Event would have been a washout (excuse the pun) if it wasn’t for the effort and improvising that came from every single competitor and helper. We want to thank you all so much!
Despite this weather orientated setback, we are sticking to our concept and for next year we plan another Rookie Concert for you.
